Well, my sewing plans this week took a sudden turn towards the Colette Laurel after seeing Rachel's version from House of Pinheiro! I loved her dress so much I wanted to make my own version. I managed to make a lace and blue cotton twill version. All three dresses are fully lined and finished amazingly thanks to the brilliance of this pattern. This dress is beautiful fit dress perfect for any occasion.
It took me a while to find a pattern that I could make into this lace version and I am pretty happy with the result, considering this was my first time working with lace. I also managed to use French seams (another first). There was only a small pleat at the front and two pleats at the back so it was really easy to work with.I then used the cotton lining to bind the sleeves and neckline.
So, this is my knock-off of Rachel's version. I pretty much tried to copy it exactly using different fabrics like she did. I loved the use of buttons and it was funny because the actual buttons ended up costing more than the dress, thanks Spotlight! Check out Rachels original version it's gorgeous!
This next dress was just using some extra fabric I had lying in my stash. I ended up cutting a size 4 for this pattern but I had to take it in quite a bit at the back and down the sides. I always try and cut larger pattern sizing because you just don't know when you need to take it in or out in certain areas.
It was pretty easy to take this dress in at the back and I would probably continue to do this. I also found for all three I had to cut a small amount off the arm holes to accommodate for my shoulder width. I then used the Colette Macaron sleeves instead since they fit better with my shoulder width.
All three dresses fully lined and overlocked around the arm holes.
I also have my Hen's party coming up so I really want to make something special for the night. I'm thinking something pink but who know's I'll probably end up wearing black like I usually do!
I may have to do more Pinterest research for that one as I only have 5 weeks left, eiikk. It's going to be my wedding day before I know it!
