My last post on the Burdastyle 120 Dress was getting the pattern right and I ended up making some really cute dresses that I absolutely love! So this post is going to be my entry to the competition.
Left is the Cue Clothing Blue Dress and Right is my Burdastyle 120 Dress
What do you think? I have even tried to pose like the one on the left. I had to take the photos at night because otherwise I might run out of time so they're not that great, bit overexposed!
Okay so that was my blue version which I will be entering into the Pattern Review competition.
Now again I got a little obsessed and made yet another one hehe!! Here is some piccys of another one which I will try to take better photos of soon.
Sorry for my night photos the shadows look a little funny!
Close up how cool is the linen print!
I also just want to thank Burdastyle for posting my Copy Cat Challenge on their facebook and twitter! Totally made my day!! Also, to thank Johanna from projectsbyme.blogspot.se for being my first entry I loved your version of the House of Lola pants. I can't wait to see what everyone else makes and I am currently sussing out what my first giveaway will be I will be giving away a BurdaStyle handbook on the 30th May 2013 as a thank you to BurdaStyle for being so supportive and because it was their pattern that made my copy cat dress.
I also joined twitter during the week and can't believe how great it is to find new sewing blogs. Thanks to everyone who has followed me or commented its been very welcoming! I look forward to chatting with everyone and discovering even more sewing blogs!
Anyways I doubt I will win anything because there are some seriously awesome outfits already but I guess this is one of my goals this year to get involved in more challenges and sewing competitions! Yay one down and many more to come!

ReplyDeleteThanks Meg!! I know I have made a few now they are great. I need to stop myself from making too many more haha.

ReplyDeleteHey Cheryl! Welcome to the blogger world hehe its very addictive. I will have to put you on my blog roll so I can see what you create. You have done some lovely outfits. Thanks for your lovely comments as well :)
DeleteGreat job. I used to work for CUE in the head office about 20 years ago. They have gorgeous stuff.
ReplyDeleteOh really that would have been great hopefully you got to stock up on your wardrobe while you were there. Me and my sister were contemplating working there part time or something just so we could buy their clothes hehehe!! I love them they are so beautiful but sometimes a bit exy so can't but them as much as I would like lol!
DeleteGood luck for the competition! My favourite is your print dress, great fabric :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lizzie!! I'm going to need it lol!
DeleteVery nice! I just bought a bag of Cue remnants and got some of that exact blue fabric!!
ReplyDeleteAre you serious!! How did you manage that! lol. I am so jealous their fabric is fantastic such good quality. Hopefully enough so you can make one of these little beauties hehe. :)
DeleteThere's prob not enough to make a whole dress - because they're all remnants, some of the pieces are strange shapes! I got it from here: http://pitttrading.com.au/collections/cue-remnants but have also picked up Cue stuff at Tessuti here in Sydney :)
DeleteBeautiful dresses! They are a timeless, classy style. Your blue one is a dead ringer for your inspiration photo. I especially like the print- it is fun and funky!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny! It took me a couple of dresses to get it right hehe. But glad because now I have 4 pretty cute dresses all a little different hehe.
DeleteI love them both!! Your entry is spot on!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shanni! :)
DeleteYour copy cat dresses are awesome. I love Cue too, they have such unusual and clever design details, but the clothes are so wearable - at least they would be if they fit me!
ReplyDeleteThanks kbenco! I know Cue is pretty awesome. At least this way we can make our own then to our sizing. I sometimes find I am in between sizes so they are either a little tight or a little big!
DeleteBoth dresses are fabulous! No more shopping at Cue. Good luck with the competition.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosi!! :) I am sure there will still be plenty of Cue shopping (just not as much hehe).
DeleteOk, seriously, where did you get the fabric with all those colors?!
ReplyDeleteI don't have time to sew right now and your dress just make me want to have a date with my sewing machine !! :) It's so pretty !!!
hahah hey Maude! Its actually from a big craft chain store in Aus called Spotlight. You should enter your latest post Belles outfit 2 its awesome!!
DeleteYour dresses are both beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Carolyn that's so lovely of you :)
Deleteahh! love it! the first dress i was like "yeah, great color and perfect canvas for a cool statement necklace or fun belt" and then you gave me the sweet, sweet lovin' that is the awesome print dress and it was too much awesomeness in one post and it cannot be contained!!
ReplyDeleteand perfect copy cat pose, too ;)
haha you crack me up!! Thank you I pretty much made the blue dress so it would be the exact copy. The fabric is a bit stiff and not that comfortable but from it came the linen print which is a lot nicer and is more my fav. Fits better too hehe. Thanks Dixie :)
DeleteI can't get over how awesomely ladylike and fantastic the linen print dress is. GAH. Beautiful. :)
